Christmas 2015 Singles Tournament

The day before the tournament things looked rather ominous with no hot water in the showers and the threat of water leakage on court 3. However everything was resolved in time and the centre was all set against a background of a stormy December evening. A stormy event it was, in the nicest sense, but not for the feint hearted, with 3 players incurring injuries. 20 players battled it out in good spirit, some of whom enjoyed their first attendance.
The performance of the night must go to Cameron Orr, his second win in a row. And what a comprehensive and impressive win it was. Cameron on his way to victory confidently beat the likes of Andy Statham, Tim Cheng and Jason Quarry, all of whom are excellent players and even potential tournament winners.
The final was again Cameron versus Jason, going to Cameron 21-9 & 21-12. One more performance like this and Cameron will topple Alistair as the current No.1 seed. The redoubtable Jason missed out again but his time will surely come.
In the play offs one witnessed a third place success for Tim and we also welcome in his first appearance, Will Bates. The score went to Tim in a tough match 21-16 & 21-17.
Other notable performances from Colin Upfield, who achieved his best rank so far, demonstrating how pre-tournament training can help.
Further, our youngest player to date, Isum, did very well in his first tournament by winning his play-off group.
