Coronavirus (COVID-19) Centre Update
Last Updated: Thursday, March 19
The outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) is an issue of which I am sure you are all aware. We have been following the latest information and guidance provided by the Government, Badminton England and other sporting governing bodies. We have been balancing our ability to continue to provide a safe place to play badminton and offer a facility providing exercise for health benefits against the risk of enabling the spread of the virus.
We believe that with the Government advice to minimise social contact, the closure of the schools and that, as Badminton England puts it, travel is to be “for essential trips, and a game of badminton does not fall into this category” the tipping point has been reached where we feel that the right course of action is to close the Centre to members from Friday, 11pm onwards. The closure also impacts Mark’s shop, please see the FAQs below about how to access racquets and his services during this closure.
This action is taken with a heavy heart, but with the best of intentions to protect both our staff and our members, including yourself.
For further information, please see the FAQs below and continue to watch our website and look out for future emails.
We wish you all the best possible health until we next welcome you through our doors.
Alistair Jones, Centre Manager, & The Directors.
FAQs
When does the Centre Close?
The Centre will close after 11pm, Friday March 20. We remain open until then.
When will the Centre Re-open?
We don’t know at present, but we will send out emails, place updates on the website as well as have signs on the Centre doors. It will be as soon as possible.
What happens to my individual court booking?
Any individual court bookings already booked from Saturday 21st onwards will be refunded.
What happens to Block Bookings, including Matches?
We are asking groups / clubs who make Block Bookings to not send us Cancellation Forms – we will track which sessions have not been used and credit these against future bookings, once the Centre re-opens.
I have a racquet in for re-stringing or need a racquet re-stringing
Mark’s shop will be closed as well, but Mark does have the ability to continue offering a re-stringing service off-site. Please contact Mark on 07903 164595 to arrange pick-up / drop-off at an alternative location.
